GATTAMELATA
Donatello made this elegant equestrian monument in the years 1447-1453 for the city of Padua, where it is still to be found in the Saint’s Square. DAVID
In 1920 ca. the mould of Michelangelo’s David was destroyed at the Academy of Fine Arts. In Autumn 1929 a new mould was made by the “Marinelli” foundry, which was granted the right to use the moulds of the David and of the detail of the head, while leaving the moulds to the school. The “Marinelli” foundry made a bronze copy of the David, based on these moulds, for Montevideo, Uruguay.
