Some doors for Cathedrals |
|
Apart from the “Holy Door” for S. Peter’s in the Vatican, other orders for important cathedral doors arrived at the “Marinelli” foundry. Amongst these were: the door by the sculptor Valteroni for the cathedral of Oropa, Piedmont (Italy); the door by the sculptor Mario Moschi for the cathedral of Sassari, Sardinia (Italy) and the one that Count Chigi Saraceni commissioned to the sculptor Vico Consorti for the Duomo of Siena (Italy). Also of great importance are the bronze doors of Santa Maria Maggiore (Rome), commissioned by Pope Pius XII; the doors for the church of S. Eugenio in Rome. Another door of great artistic worth was that cast for the Cathedral of Bogotá (Colombia).
