The collection of original plaster models was established in the first half of the 1900s. The founder of the Foundry, Ferdinando Marinelli Sr., devoted part of his activity to making these negative moulds on the original masterpieces, in the years when it was still possible to obtain permission from the Directors of Museums and Public Collections.

And even today Ferdinando Marinelli Jr. continues to enrich it when the competent authorities authorize its execution on works to be replaced with museum posthumous first edition originals.

To date, the Marinelli gipsoteca has more than 750 moulds of almost all the ancient and Renaissance masterpieces.
